As you step into Eleda Stadion on a matchday, you’ll quickly spot the club owners, not sitting in a VIP box, but sitting and standing all around you. They are not your stereotypical rich owners, but instead people from all walks of life, from all parts of Malmö as well as outside of Malmö, simply they are Malmö FF. Here we don’t need one owner that likes us, but thousands that love us. It creates a special feeling for the supporters, to feel that this isn’t just their team theoretically but also in practice. We are all in this together, literally.
One city, One club
For decades Malmö FF has been the team of the city of Malmö. In contrast to other cities in Sweden, here we only have one team and it’s created a unique sentiment for the club throughout the city. Everyone has an opinion about the club, whether they are interested in football or not, if you care for Malmö you naturally also care for Malmö FF. It’s something you’ll quickly notice when visting the city and its surrounding areas, as wherever you look, you’ll constantly be reminded of Di Himmelsblå. On a matchday, you will even see the city buses driving around with Malmö FF flags.
At the stadium, the last thing the players see as they walk out onto the pitch, engraved in the wall at the top of the players’ tunnel are the words Vi står som en för klubben alla – vi segra skall men inte falla (We all stand as one for the club – we shall go victorious but not fall). The same words are painted on the wall behind the supporters at the North End, Norra Läktaren. They are lyrics from a classic Malmö FF song and it shows the special bond between the supporters and the club. The words in the player tunnel engraved there by the club, the words at Norra Läktaren painted by the Malmö supporter group MT96.
MT96 or MFF Tifosi 96 is a independent network of supporters who with their passion for Malmö FF put down hours and hours of hard work to create some of the most incredible tifos in European football. These innovative pieces of art are made with passion by the supporters themselves with means created by fundraising among the rest of Malmö FF’s supporters. They not only create an extraordinary and unique atmosphere at Malmö FF games but also gives the players on the pitch that extra push to take their performance to the next level.
